My name is Candy Sweeney, Owner/Artistic Alchemist of NaKee’ Natural. My husband and boys are very much a part of the business as well.

We believe that great skin care can be produced wonderfully and simply with few ingredients. We believe in formulating natural products that are both of high quality and affordable. Skincare does not have to be complicated. The best skincare is made with just a few key high-quality natural materials.

Even though soap oils cannot be sourced in Michigan, we do strive to use as many local ingredients as we can in our products.

Ingredients We Use

In our soap we use rice bran, organic coconut, organic palm with a large portion of fairly traded organic unrefined shea butter for added creaminess and emoliency, and cocoa butter for moisturizing and hardness. We use pure essential plant oils, botanicals, clays, and other natural and organic additives in some of our bars, while in others we may use some fragrance and/or color. If you are looking for a completely natural bar with no synthetic fragrance or color, try our Essential Spa Bars. If you don’t mind a little synthetic fragrance and/or color, check out our Escentual Spa Bars. Take note that our Escentual Spa Bars are more than 95% natural using high quality fragrance oils and colors. We love and use essential oils, but we have found many clients want scents that nature doesn’t provide for us in an oil. For example, our best selling bar is the Mangapaya, which has an exotic fruitalicious scent. There is no completely natural way to achieve this scent. Most fragrance oils are based on and have essential oils in them.

Our other products include scrubs, buffs, oils, complexion products, foot products, bath soaks, lip balms, moisturizers and handcrafted cedar soap dishes. We use natural, organic, and fairly-traded ingredients in our other products as well.

Our Practices

Soap: We make our soap in small batches using the cold-processed method with a special vegan formula that we have tested and everyone loves. Glycerin is produced naturally during the process. The soap is made without preservatives to bring you the purest formulation.

We use locally sourced honey in our Oatmeal & Honey soap. We also use locally produced(Mindo, who is also a producer here at Lunasa) cocoa butter, cocoa powder, and cocoa nibs in our Chocolate Bliss soap. and we are working on incorporating as many other local ingredients into our products as we can.

Highlights

We are very proud of our unique blends. We do have some classic one-note fragrances, but we are excited to offer you one-of a-kind blends we have created ourselves. Each bar will also have its own individual, unique characteristics. No two batches are exactly the same, and no two soaps within a batch are exactly the same. Think of it as part of the “charm”! I like to call it ‘Artistic Alchemy’. Each bar is cut at between 4.3 and 6 ounces.

From time to time we may be out of stock of some of our soaps. We work hard to keep up with demand, but after our soap is made, poured, and hand cut, it needs to rest and cure for 3-4 weeks before packaging and selling.

Misc.

Our business name is a combination of two of our boys’ names.

We have a Soap For Hope program. We are raising money for Cure Search, which is a children’s cancer research organization. We do this to honor our oldest son, who journeyed through childhood cancer for nearly four years. 40% of proceeds from our Pomegranate Gold products goes to Cure Search.
