Duerksen Turkey Farm [Our Products]
About Us
We are a third generation turkey farm located 75 miles south of the Mackinaw Bridge in beautiful Northern Michigan in Antrim County. Our farm sits on 45 acres of beautiful woods and green pasture out in the country. Rick’s grandmother started the business in the mid 1940’s. After we married in 1976 we stepped in and began raising turkeys, something my husband and I love doing together. We have raised our four children on the farm and have appreciated all their hard work and many hours together doing what we love. We care deeply about the quality of our products and want to produce the healthiest turkey possible so you, our customers and friends will enjoy the delicious taste and the health benefits of eating our turkey products.
Ingredients We Use
Our turkeys are pasture raised but have GMO free grain available for them daily. The turkeys are FREE from chemicals, antibiotics and growth hormones.
Our Practices
Our baby turkeys, (poults) are a day old when we get them. They are raised in a warm, comfortable and clean environment with dry litter. When they reach approximately 4-5 weeks of age they are allowed to graze the pasture where they have access to green grasses and plenty of aged shade trees for comfort and ample room to run which is great exercise while dining on a smorgasboard of insects. We feel it is important to raise the turkeys the way they were intended to be raised…outside on pasture! We handle our turkeys with TLC from day one to slaughter. We have our MDA approved slaughter facility on site where we adhere to high sanitation standards. Our goal is to bring our customers a premium product at a fair price. IMPORTANT FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT PASTURE RAISED TURKEYS: - 21% less total fat - 30% less saturated fat - 28% fewer calories - 50% more vitamin A and 100% more Omega-3
