About Us

Lunasa (loo-nah-sah) is an annual Celtic harvest celebration traditionally begun in August. Getting back to our roots and supporting local farmers and craftspeople is something we feel good about doing, for us personally, our families, our neighbors, and our local communities. Come celebrate with us!

Our Team

Lunasa was formed by Jane Pacheco and Dawn Thompson, a couple of local-minded Michiganders. Simple and easy, just like our business concept. Jane's background was in local food co-op purchasing and business management, and Dawn's background was in marketing and culinary arts.

Together we have been working within the local food system for several years and are certain of one thing: It is not as easy as it could be to "Buy Local". Our experiences have given us plenty of opportunity to think about how to make this process easier for the average person.

At the same time, local producers sometimes struggle with how to market their products and how to make a profit. So, we thought, why not bring a system to our community that would provide bundled services to producers and bring the people and products together, all the while keeping prices reasonable for both sides. Sustainability, accessibility, and affordability equals Lunasa Market.

Our Philosophy

Lunasa Market links producers and consumers of local goods, year round, through an online order system and an in-person distribution transfer location.

  • We believe eating healthy, local foods is good for our families and our environment.
  • We believe that everyone should have access to affordable local goods.
  • We believe that it is everyone's responsibility to support local businesses.
